Utah Utes football under Joe Maddock

Joe Maddock was the second paid head coach of the Utah Utes football team. The Utes represent the University of Utah for intercollegiate football games. Maddock compiled a record of 36–9–1 while at Utah from 1904 to 1909.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=All-Time Coaching Records Joseph H. "Joe" Maddock Records by Year )〕 However, several of the games played are not include in the official NCAA records; in such games, Maddock had a record of 28–9–1 (.750). Utah did not yet have a conference and played all its games as an independent.




==1904==

The 1904 season saw the start of Joe Maddock's coaching career. Maddock had been a key player for Michigan during the 1902–03 seasons. The 1904 team outscored their opposition 301–38 on their way to a 7–1 record. They were also notable for playing three games in eight days in three different cities. On October 29 they played at and won 12–0.
